To support a thorough restructuring and improve long‑term operational efficiency, the Nitinaht General Store will pause operations effective end‑of‑day Friday, October 31, 2025.
We recognize the store’s importance to residents, visitors, and local businesses. This decision is part of a planned reset to ensure the store can better meet community needs in the years ahead. During the pause, we will assess operations, supply chains, staffing, and facilities.
Call for Expressions of Interest: Operate the Nitinaht General Store
We invite interested members to submit a Letter of Interest to take over and operate the Nitinaht General Store.
DEDC support: For the right applicant, DEDC is prepared to assist financially with startup requirements, alongside advisory support during transition and ramp‑up.
How to Apply

In your letter, please include:
- Your name and contact information
- Relevant retail, business, or management experience
- Your vision and operating approach for the store (hours, product mix, customer service)
- An initial startup plan (timeline, staffing approach, supplier relationships)
- High‑level budget and startup needs (capital, working capital)
- Any community benefits or partnership ideas
Review timeline: Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Short‑listed applicants will be contacted for next steps and may be asked to provide a basic business plan and references.

- Essential goods and fuel services during the pause may be accessed upon request.
