The Ditidaht Economic Development Corporation funded a $1.7-million-dollar project, undertaking the construction of a 2.8-kilometre bypass road that avoids the floodplain near the Nitinaht Village. The project was completed in February 2023 with road grading, levelling, and bridge installation.

The Ditidaht community and their visitors now have an alternate route in and out of Nitinaht during high water flooding.
